An ancient Gothic currency called \u2018Maravedi\u2019 was used in Cavadoude. Cavadoude once belonged to the municipality of Celorico da Beira. It therefore seems that Cavadoude was built before the reign of D. Sancho I.Architectural and Archaeological Heritage: Lugar do Tintinolho This was the site of an ancient defensive settlement from the corresponding historical period. Traces of \u2018round houses\u2019 have been found here, which are believed to date back to the time of Viriato. This stronghold was turned into a Roman settlement after the defeat of the Lusitanian forces. The Roman Empire also left its mark here, which is still visible today in remains such as a Roman road which also went through Cavadoude. The main church has three beautiful Renaissance altarpieces, the main altar of Nossa Senhora da Assun\u00e7\u00e3o, the side altar of Nossa Senhora das Neves and another of the Sagrado Cora\u00e7\u00e3o de Jesus. The Chapel of S. Pedro and the Chapel of Senhor da Piedade ( a private chapel). Roman bridge, in the centre of the village, over the Cavadoude stream.Landscape: The original patch of pine trees in this parish used to be extremely wide and deep. However, repeated wildfires have devastated it.Ecology: The stream of Cavadoude which crosses the village. It connects two watercourses.
